Valimail is Named in Built In’s 2023 Best Places to Work List

Valimail places in Built In’s 2023 Best Remote Companies and Best Midsize Companies lists.

Built In announced today that Valimail was honored in its 2023 Best Places To Work Awards. Specifically, Valimail earned a place on the Best Remote Companies and Best Mid-Size Companies lists. The annual awards program includes companies of all sizes, from startups to those in the enterprise, and honors both remote-first employers as well as companies in large tech markets across the U.S.

“The making of a “Best Place to Work” took 2 years of commitment from the entire company to implement a business performance strategy that’s rooted in collaboration, velocity, and agility,” says Elaine Mak, Chief People & Performance Enablement Officer. “We are humbled to be named one of Built In’s “Best Places to Work” and we thank our employees for showing up as team players and servant leaders who deliver results every day.”

The Making of a “Best Place to Work”

This award comes after two years of committed transformation by the entire company as we pivoted from a founder-led, top-down command structure into a “People First” distributed leadership model where diverse perspectives have a seat at the table. We intentionally expanded our decision-making throughout the company and optimized teams for velocity, agility, performance, and business results.

At the beginning of this transformation, our company had an average Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) of -7. Today, our eNPS is +56 – on par with tech giants like Google, Salesforce, and Microsoft and well above the tech industry benchmark of +25. Our Glassdoor rating has also climbed from a 2.8 to 4.6 during this time.

Valimail achieved this shift by defining performance frameworks that prioritized shared collaboration, accountability, and execution against performance and results. Further, we doubled down on our “People First” promise by becoming a fully remote business and updated our policies and benefits to support this decision. Our benefits include “take time off when you need it” and employee events programming to support teams in an outcomes-based work environment while keeping them connected to the business, to their teammates, and caring for their wellbeing at and outside of work.

Core to our strategy is ensuring diverse perspectives contribute to our decision-making. Workforce gender diversity is therefore among our top commitments as we underwent our organizational transformation. Today, 32% of our workforce identify as women or non-binary which is above the industry benchmark of 30%.

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking talented individuals who believe that business results, collaboration, and shared accountability go hand-in-hand. To see our open positions, check out our Careers page.
